•If you are a follower of Christ..
Then you are welcome to join the ekklesia (the Lord’s congregation).
•The Barn Ministries position in ekklesia; We call in.
Zoom
Not all have the chance to meet physically with fellow believers. The Barn Ministries position in ekklesia is that we call in the followers of Christ through zoom meetings, to lift up, guide, teach, educate and stand with them in the times we now are living in.
Ephesians 4:11-14 shows how and why
‘‘And (His gifts to the ekklesia were varied and) He Himself appointed some as apostles (special messengers, proclaimers, representatives), some as prophets (who speak a new message from God to the people), some as evangelists (who spread, preach, proclaim and teach the good news of salvation), and some as Shepards and teachers (to shepherd, guide and instruct), (and He did this) to fully equip and perfect the saints (God’s people - ekklesia) for works of service, to build up the body of Christ (ekklesia - the Lord’s congregation); until we all reach oneness in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, (growing spiritually) to become a mature believer, reaching to the measure of the fullness of Christ (manifesting His spiritual completeness and exercising our spiritual gifts in unity). So that we are no longer children (spiritually immature), tossed back and forth (like ships on a stormy sea) and carried about by every wind of (shifting) doctrine, by the cunning and trickery of (unscrupulous) men, by the deceitful scheming of people ready to do anything (for personal profit)’’
Instructors, not leaders
None of the ministry gifts seen in Ephesians 4:11-14 designate ‘leadership’ in an organizational sense, but describe functions and services.
The key insight (Ephesians 4:11-14).
The world say; “God gave leaders to run the church”
Responsibility, not rank
God did not give leaders to run the ‘church’, but gave gifted people to equip the saints, so the whole body of Christ (ekklesia) on earth grows into maturity.
Verse 12-14 makes this explicit;
• The goal is equipping, not controlling
• The result is unity and maturity, not dependency
• It is the winds of changing doctrine that are dangerous, not the lack of hierarchy
Bottom line
• “Leader” is a modern, organizational word, not a biblical one.
• Scripture prefers shepherding, teaching, equipping, overseeing, verbs and vocations.
• Ephesians 4:11-14 frames authority as a gift to the ekklesia (congregation), not a rank within it.
Meet up in ekklesia (the Lord’s congregation)
The ekklesia is not an event, but a body. When you meet, both you and the others are strengthened.
